Reflection Questions
  • What kinds of massive misunderstandings appear as we look at the four Gospels from a global perspective?

  • In John’s Gospel, Jesus refers to himself using images such as the “bread of life”, the “living water.” What value do these kinds of images have in helping to understand who Jesus is?

  • The vocabulary of John differs from that found in the Synoptic Gospels. How do you explain this? How is this germane to mission work?

  • How does Jesus’ understanding of salvation break with the views found in first century Judaism? With those of Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam?
